About GizmoDrift
What we do
We're a team of price-obsessed gadget nerds who built a robot to track prices on the hottest tech gadgets โ smart rings, AI glasses, fitness wearables, and whatever innovative gizmo drops next. Every 6 hours, our automated pipeline checks prices, crunches numbers, and updates our recommendations โ no human intervention required. Categories and products are dynamically curated based on what's actually trending right now, so you only see what matters.
How our scores work
DriftScore (0-100)
Our DriftScore is a "how good is this gadget overall?" number from 0-100. It's the weighted average of six dimensions we score every product on:
- Value (25%) โ what you get for the money, including hidden subscription costs
- Performance (20%) โ does it actually deliver on its promises?
- Daily utility (20%) โ will you actually use it every day, or will it collect dust?
- Build quality (15%) โ materials, durability, how long it'll last
- Ease of use (10%) โ can you figure it out without reading a manual?
- Compatibility (10%) โ does it work with your phone, your other devices, your life?
Higher is better. Each product page shows all six dimension scores as a breakdown so you can see exactly where a product shines and where it falls short.
Price signal
Our price signal helps you decide if now is the right time to buy. We watch price trends and compare to historical lows. "On sale" means we spotted a deal worth grabbing. "Fair price" means the price is reasonable. "Wait for discount" means the price is higher than usual and a drop is likely.
Guide rankings
Our guide pages rank every product by a single dimension โ so the "Best value" guide shows products ranked purely by value score, while "Everyday essentials" ranks by daily utility. This lets you find exactly what matters to you without wading through products that don't fit your priorities.
Our data sources
We pull prices from Amazon, Best Buy, and direct manufacturer stores. Product specs come straight from official product pages. Review scores are aggregated from publications like Tom's Guide, TechRadar, and The Verge. Everything is automated โ no copy-paste from review sites, no "we updated this article" that actually just changed the date.
Editorial independence
Rankings are 100% algorithmic. No brand can buy a better score. No PR person can sweet-talk us into bumping their product up (they've tried). Our scores come from data, not opinions โ and you can see the exact breakdown on every product page.
